Nutrition Programs for Seniors in Clearfield County

Clearfield County, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) – Several regional and local agencies are eyeing farmers’ market nutrition programs available to seniors in Clearfield County.

The Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, a division of Mature Recourse, and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture will continue to mail applications and checks for the Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) this year. announced that it would be distributed

The 2023 SFMNP goal is to increase the number of seniors receiving benefits and increase check redemption rates statewide.

Clearfield County seniors who are 60 years of age or older and meet the income requirements by December 31, 2023 are eligible to receive a $10 check, down from $26 last year to $5.

Here are the household income eligibility guidelines:

1 person – $26,973

2 people – $36,482

3 people – $45,991

4 people – $55,500

5 people – $65,009

6 people – $74,518

7 people $84,027

8 people – $93,563

Each person in the household receiving the voucher must be at least 60 years old, including spouses. The SFMNP does not include older persons living in nursing homes, monasteries, or residential facilities where meals are provided.

All Clearfield County residents age 60 and older who meet the income guidelines can receive an application by calling the CCAAA SFMNP phone number at 814-765-2691. Follow the instructions and your application will be mailed to you. Please fill in the necessary information and return it in the enclosed envelope to receive the voucher. Please leave only one phone message.

Meals on Wheels consumers will receive an application with their noon meal.

Check distribution will begin on May 11th and will end on September 30th, or when supplies last. The payee must use the check at the farm stand or market by November 30th.
