SUV with bullet holes crashes in wrong direction on Interstate 76 after filming at FDR Park – NBC10 Philadelphia
A shooting at FDR Park in South Philadelphia ended in a reverse crash on the Schuylkill Freeway early Wednesday. was injured.
Philadelphia Police Inspector Scott Small said, “This could have been worse.
Officers initially responded to FDR Park off Pattison Avenue around 3 a.m. after receiving reports of shootings, Small said.
“When police went to the location, they initially couldn’t find the scene, but they found the scene where they found two cars involved in an accident on the westbound lane of Interstate 76.” said Small.
The crashed Ford Explorer had about eight bullet holes and a man in his 20s was bleeding from a bullet in the neck in the backseat, Small said.
Police rushed the man to the hospital, where he was in critical condition, Small said.
Another Infiniti sedan had a man in his 20s with a gun in it.
Police say it all began with a brawl at FDR Park that escalated into a shooting where at least 18 bullets were fired.
Police said they only found evidence that the shot had been fired at FDR Park, not I-76.
A tow truck driver told police he saw the driver fleeing the shooting scene driving eastward at high speed on the westbound lane of Interstate 76.
The Schuylkill Expressway reopened around 5:30 am.
Small said the Infiniti driver was brought in for questioning. The woman driving the SUV was called a “witness”.
