Senator Bob Casey Celebrates Pregnant Workers Equity Act
HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (WHTM) – Senator Bob Casey traveled to Harrisburg today to celebrate the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, which took effect this summer.
Casey, who is running for re-election in the Senate, first introduced the bill more than a decade ago.
The bill requires employers to provide pregnant workers with amenities such as chairs and extra restroom breaks.
“If the pregnancy wasn’t a healthy pregnancy because of what we didn’t do to protect her at work, we won’t get the results we wanted: a child born in the best possible circumstances,” Casey said.

The bill passed last year as part of a spending package. About 20 Republicans voted with Democrats to introduce the bill.
