The $21.5 million plan will be funded from the previous year’s School Feeding Services General Fund. Schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program receive support from the program.

Pandemic-era federal aid that made school meals free for all public school students, finished this school year, despite a push in Congress to extend it. In Pennsylvania, consumption of breakfast under free meal programs has increased by 16% compared to pre-pandemic levels, according to officials.
