Oprah Winfrey endorses John Fetterman over Pennsylvania Senator Dr. Mehmet Oz

Oprah Winfrey said Thursday that she would vote for Democratic Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman over Republican Dr. Mehmet Oz in the race she must win in the Pennsylvania Senate election.

But Winfrey endorsed Fetterman at Thursday night’s virtual voting event, along with a list of other Democrats in the high-profile Senate race.
“If I lived in Pennsylvania, I would have already voted for John Fetterman for many reasons,” Oprah said.
With Election Day less than a week away, polls show Fetterman and Oz are in a hot race in Keystone State. With Republican Senator Pat Toomey retired, the race for a seat in the Senate is seen as one of the most competitive in the country as Democrats try to maintain a slim majority in the Senate.
Fetterman, who is recovering from a life-threatening stroke in May, accused Oz of being an out-of-touch elitist and a carpetbagger from New Jersey. accuses him of being left-wing and lenient on crime, and questioning whether he is healthy enough to serve in the Senate.
“And it’s not the only race that matters,” Winfrey said. He said he would vote for Val Demings, the Democratic challenger to Rep. Marco Rubio.

Winfrey also said he would vote for Democrat Texas gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke over Democrat Stacey Abrams, who is seeking to remove incumbent Republican Governor Greg Abbott and Georgia Republican Governor Brian Kemp.
“So there are clear choices out there, dynamic candidates working to represent the values. This is what we are talking about. , the value of compassion, the value of community, our sharing,” said Winfrey.
“So use your discernment, which seems to be lacking in much of our country today. Use your discernment to choose wisely for our nation’s democracy. Please,” she added.
In a statement, Fetterman called it “an honor and privilege to have Oprah’s support in this race.”
