One seriously injured in three-vehicle collision in Somerset County

Somerset County, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) — Two people were taken to hospital, one of them being treated for serious injuries, after a three-vehicle crash in Kemahoning Township Wednesday.

The accident occurred around 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 5 when 38-year-old Howard Nicholson Jr. of Lockwood was driving north on Stoystown Road in a Jeep Renegade, state police said. did. Nicholson was turning left and heading south on oncoming traffic when he was rear-ended by an 83-year-old woman’s Ford Escape.

Police said the impact pushed Nicholson’s Renegade over onto the driver’s side and slid into the Nissan Frontier, which was being driven by a 70-year-old man who was waiting to enter the SR 281.

The woman was seriously injured in the accident and taken to Connemor Hospital. Nicholson was taken to Somerset Hospital with minor injuries. The third driver was unharmed. Both Nicholson’s vehicle and the women’s vehicle were totaled.

Summary charges have been filed against Nicholson.

Friedens Volunteer Fire Department, Somerset Ambulance, Northern EMS and State Police responded to the scene. Friedens Collision and Ron’s Collision helped tow Nicholson’s car and the women’s car.
