every year, Pennsylvania Trail Advisory Board has designated Trail of the Year to increase trail enthusiasm and advocacy and raise public awareness of the value of Pennsylvania’s trail network each year.
“Trails are important connectors to our natural spaces, so we are thrilled to receive nominations that share the impact our amazing trails have on communities across the Commonwealth,” said Dunn. Thank you to the Trail Advisory Board for working to improve trails in Pennsylvania, and we can’t wait to see which ones come out on top.”
DCNR recently completed a towpath at Delaware Canal State Park. Pennsylvania’s 2022 Trail of the Year.
The Advisory Board works to develop statewide land and waterway networks to promote recreation, transportation and healthy lifestyles for all.
Pennsylvania has more than 12,000 miles of trails, and DCNR supports trail projects across the Commonwealth as part of its goal to have trails within 10 minutes of every resident.
The winning trail will be recognized in a news release by the Advisory Board and DCNR. A commemorative poster for distribution throughout the state. Trailhead markers along the trail. Promotion on ExplorePATrails. Grants to educational programs to promote trail safety and environmental protection.

The nomination form and supporting documentation must be submitted online by November 11, 2022 for consideration. Trail of the Year will be announced in early 2023.
