Mass shooting in West Philadelphia – NBC10 Philadelphia
A man has been shot multiple times and died on a sunny morning in West Philadelphia.
Philadelphia police said the shooting occurred just before 9:30 a.m. along Vine Street near 63rd Street.
Officers rushed the man, who appeared to be in his mid-30s, to a nearby hospital, where he died minutes later, police said.
Investigators are still looking for the shooter, but did not immediately reveal a motive for the shooting.
Police were also seen blocking streets to search for clues. Evidence of trail markings was found.
Police said about 90 minutes later, after a shooting occurred along Lansdowne Street near 55th Street in another part of West Philadelphia, officers were called in and found a man shot multiple times in the head.
The man, believed to be in his early 20s, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
Police did not immediately disclose a motive, nor did they announce any arrests in the 11 a.m. shooting.
There were 236 murders in Philadelphia on Friday, according to the National Police Agency. Data collected by the Philadelphia Police Department. That’s a 23% drop from the same period last year, but it’s still on pace to be one of the deadliest years since data began being collected in 2007.
