Bald Eagle Baseball Wins PIAA 2A Championship
University Park, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) — The Bald Eagle National Youth Baseball Team won the state championship.
The Bald Eagles defeated Mount Union 11-0 in the fifth inning on Saturday to win the 2023 PIAA 2A Baseball Championship.
Tyler Serb struck out three in a shutout victory and allowed only two hits. Serbia also performed well on offense, with 2 RBIs and 3 wins and 3 losses.
The Bold Eagles led the game with seven runs in the third inning, including a 3-run triple by Taiten Yoder.
This is the second title in the program’s history, the first being won in 2007. It was also the last time the team advanced to a state championship game.
The game was played Saturday at Penn State University. The game was originally scheduled for Friday 16 June, but was changed due to rain.
The Bold Eagle finished the season with a 22-4 record, while the Mount Union finished with a 25-3 record. Mount Union has lost all three games to the Bald Eagle this season.

This postseason, the Bald Eagle School District was chasing history, as both the baseball and softball teams qualified for the championship. If both teams win, they would join the Royal Sock in 2008 and become only the second school in history to celebrate baseball and softball championships in the same season.
