SHARON, Pennsylvania (WKBN) — The former Huntington Bank building in downtown Sharon is now being demolished, and the city is preparing for the second phase of the project.
After completion, it will be used as a green space called Triangle Park.
The city hosted a Mother’s Day artisan market on Saturday, giving attendees a glimpse of how the space will be put to use. As work continues on site, several pop-up vendors have been set up just outside the area.
Demolition and renovation of the area was funded primarily by state grants. City officials said they are now applying for future grants to help revitalize the entire downtown riverfront.
Construction at Triangle Park is scheduled to be completed by the end of this summer.
