Winning goals in the Trevor Gooch game encourage Reading Royals to beat Worcester – Reading Eagle

In the first few seconds of overtime, reading defense Trevor Gooch took a puck in his zone and skated straight for Worcester’s goal.

Gooch evaded a pair of defenders and quickly moved to the attack zone before firing a wrist shot. Puck went straight behind the net and gave Gooch a game-winning goal in just 16 seconds of overtime to make the Royals win the Railers 3-2 overtime on Friday night at the Santander Arena. ..

“They gave me a lot of ice, and I used it,” Gooch said. “(I) just forged to the left and threw it on the net and fortunately it came in.”

Gooch scored three goals in four games this season, scoring in late December in his second stint with the Royals. His goal in Friday’s victory was his first game winner of the season.

“The goal is illness,” said Royals coach Kirk McDonald. “His achievement. He was a big addition.”

Reading dragged most of the third period and then tied it with a goal from Garrett Sesele, who remained at 2:28. The goal was the first of Cesel as a member of the Royals.

“He had the opportunity to score this year, but it didn’t happen, so I’m happy to see a man who will be rewarded in such a situation,” McDonald said. “It was a big time.”
