Two charged in shooting that wounded six outside Pittsburgh funeral

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Two people have been charged in a shooting incident outside a Pittsburgh church where a funeral was being held, in which six were injured and one seriously injured, officials said.

Both 19-year-old Shawn Davis of McKees Rocks and a 16-year-old Pittsburgh youth were charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and a weapons count. A man was killed in a shooting earlier this month.

The service was livestreamed and the video showed several people screaming and crouching. It was not clear if a bullet had entered the church. One was taken to hospital in serious condition, while four other shooting victims were listed as stable.

Surveillance footage showed two masked men walking toward the church with unloaded guns, one shooting a man on the sidewalk, prosecutors said. It has been. Authorities said the suspect was later arrested at McKee’s Rocks after the vehicle he was driving from the scene was stopped on a bridge.

Court documents did not claim a motive for the shooting, and officials said it was not immediately clear if it was related to the funeral. The Violent Crimes Unit is investigating. The defendant is also charged with cruelty to an animal that was apparently injured by a horse pulling the coffin and hit by shrapnel.

Court documents do not list the defendants’ attorneys. The number listed was not found on Saturday.

Pastor Nishita Moses called the situation inside the church chaotic. According to the Tribune Review, people “everyone ran” when they heard the gunshots.

“Why would someone come to a funeral and try to kill more people?” Moses asked. “I’m upset.”
