The Chicago Bulls suffered a 109-104 defeat to the New York Knicks and stumbled again with deeper concerns about the playoff seeds – Reading Eagle

The final push to the playoffs turned from worry to worse when the Chicago Bulls lost 109-104 in a winning game against the New York Knicks on Monday.

Knicks is 11th at the Eastern Conference, 4½ games behind the Play-in Tournament, and offers one of the few solid wins in the last eight games of the Bulls’ regular season. The trip to New York should have been an important moment for the Bulls to further barricade to the fifth seed of the Eastern Conference.

DeMar DeRozan did his best to complete one of the prestigious fourth-quarter stands, but even 15 points during that period wasn’t enough to bring the Bulls back. DeRozan missed his first attempt at the basket to tie the game and picked up an aggressive foul at the last chance of the game.

The Bulls appeared ready to escape in the first half, but mistakes hampered their production. Despite Knicks’ unplanned night of shooting, the Bulls couldn’t protect the ball, stepped out of bounds without contact, fouled a three-point shot, tinkered with a pass on the back court, and played. I continued to give my opponent a chance.

“We got cold, missed shots, missed opportunities and turnovers, then they ran and returned to the game,” said Billy Donovan. “We must be able to overcome such things from a competitive and emotional point of view.”

The Bulls turned the ball more than eight times in the first half, managing only 16 assists and achieving a total of 12 turnovers. Alex Caruso fouled out in the last two minutes of the game, highlighting the frustrating nights of the Bulls.

Alec Burks hit five three-pointers to lead Knicks with 27 points, but the team’s stars struggled with the accuracy of the shot. Julius Randle shot 1-9 and Evan Fournier shot 2-10 that night. Knicks shot only 42.7% from the field and won 21-35 from the free throw line. However, the Bulls balanced this heterogeneous shoot with the failure that allowed Knicks to maintain a small lead.

The defeat occurred shortly after a vibrant victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. It gave a little room for breathing when the Bulls stuck to the fifth place in the east.

The defeat brought the Bulls back to what they were after both the Toronto Raptors and Cavaliers won the match on Monday, narrowing the eastern margin.

Despite a good start to the season, losses have deepened the 5-10 skid since the Bulls defeated the All-Star as a flounder. It also continued the worsening pattern of losses on the Bulls Road, which lost nine of the last ten games away from the United Center.
