Work begins this week on U.S. Route 22 in Blair County

Blair County, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) – Preservation work on the Allegheny Township bridge is expected to begin by Wednesday.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that Everett’s Cottles Asphalt Maintenance Company will begin maintenance work on Wednesday, July 5. Work will take place on a bridge carrying US Route 22 over US Route 764 in Blair County.

On Wednesday, contractors are expected to begin elastomeric concrete repairs and silicone sealing of the expansion dam at the bridge joint. This preservation work will be done on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of the bridge, one lane at a time. Traffic restrictions are in place during the day.

Drivers are warned to drive slowly and carefully and be aware of workers and equipment within the construction zone.

This portion of the massive Blair County-wide $1.3 million bridge preservation project is expected to be completed by July 14, weather-proof.

The entire project is expected to be completed by July 2024.
