Another member, Republican Frank Ryan, has another plan to abolish property taxes ()“Revision of property tax elimination plan” Reading EagleFebruary 25).
It proposes to abolish school property taxes with a small tax change. This includes certain retirement income (well, which one?) And new taxes on food and clothing.
What caught my attention was the proposed retirement income tax.
Does this tax include a member’s pension? I certainly hope so. From what I read, our lawmakers seem to be doing pretty well after they retire. Certainly much better than my husband and me.
Does the plan affect the pensions of retired teachers? The fund is already struggling.
So there is another plan by another member in time for the election.
