Swamp Creek Road resumes following rehab of the Marlboro Township Bridge – thereporteronline

MARLBOROUGH — Swamp Creek Road resumes between Geryville Pike and Pain Road in Marlboro Township, following the rehabilitation of the bridge over Unami Creek.

PennsDOT contractors have repaired the foundation of the structure near the pier and abutments to prevent future scouring. The three-span masonry arch bridge was closed in late December 2021 after pier damage was discovered during an underwater bridge inspection.

Prior to the recent December closure, the Swamp Creek Road Bridge was first closed in September 2021 to repair the approach road due to damage caused by a tropical cyclone Ida.

Approximately 203 vehicles move daily in a 130-year-old, 89-foot-long, 20-foot-wide building.

Drivers can check the condition of major roads by visiting www.511PA.com or downloading the 511PA mobile application. The 511PA is free and available 24 hours a day, providing traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to over 1,000 traffic cameras.
