Widespread winter mix starting Thursday, possible icing on roads

Alert: Rain and freezing rain Thursday morning, possible icing on roads

WGAL NEWS 8 Storm Team. Welcome to Part 2 of Winter Storm Across the Susquehanna Valley. The main concern now is who will see the rain and whether some of this rain will switch to snow as we head into the evening from the rest of the afternoon. Mostly north of the Turnpike where you can see light build up and snow build up. Early tomorrow morning we can see showers and snow showers, but finally some dry air coming in, but not enough warmth. it’s going to stay. Unseasonably cold for the weekend. So we have that winter weather forecast, he’s valid until 7:00 for most of the SWAT Valley. But if you’re watching, it’s happening in Mifflin and Juni, and in counties that see snow cover this afternoon and evening. You have a winter storm warning. It also increases the possibility of icing. The winter storm warning is in effect until noon tomorrow. I expect this storm to intensify. It’s raining with a pretty good clip. It can be picked up further. And as it does, it’s going to let some of that cool air down from cloud level. Let’s take a look at Super Doppler 8. IT’S ALL LIGHT UP WITH LOT OF STUFF. Most of the rain falling across the valley is now in the form of plains rain, although sleet can be seen intermingled in some places. However, pay close attention to temperatures in many parts of the region. We are below freezing or above. So even if you see it snowing, it still won’t stick to the grass. But it rises along 322. This is your best chance for that to happen. SO HERE’S LOOK AT THE BIG STORM OVERALL. You can watch the center of the storm return to Minneapolis. However, there is another storm center just below us to the south and west, and we expect precipitation to continue to intensify as it approaches and moves away from the east coast. Snow is possible in northern counties, though, and can be heavy at times. And we will stay there overnight and most of us will see a few pockets of light rain and drizzle. And it will slowly move out of the area for tomorrow in this storm system. However, temperatures will peak in the high to mid-40s later in the day, with some clear skies. So the impact on this afternoon trip during the evening rush hour is still great. Conditions will slowly improve and temperatures will be milder throughout the night after dark, ensuring less impact. There may also be some sporadic power outages as tree branches are well removed from ice build-up and gusts can exceed 20 mph this afternoon and early morning. See how it rains with Levin. However, since we are in a freeze mark, we have freezing rain in some places. The wind still blows mainly from the east. Let the cool Atlantic air flow into the Susquehanna Valley and stay with us. Heading into the afternoon, check out our predictive notifications to see what happens here. Areas north of the turnpike may see pockets of snow, but along the turnpike southwards, we’re seeing just a drop of rain. The rain/snow line continues north by 11:00. It should rain very little overnight. Early tomorrow morning we may see a few pockets of some light snow in our far north counties, but it’s likely we’ll just see a passing shower of rain. Stormy conditions will be with us as we go. So if you’re looking for snow cover, you should head north of the Poconos, north of Williamsport. It’s possible the valley is probably a lighter coating, but the ceiling could be 2-5 inches higher towards Lewistown. I have. This storm system goes outside the region. We dry out for the latter half of the weekend and stay in CHI out of season
