Smokey Robinson almost died after being infected with the coronavirus.

The 81-year-old singer was treated for 11 days in a hospital in Los Angeles last December and was afraid that the hit maker of “Tears of a Clown” would never sing after the worst.

He said DailyMail.com: “I am a survivor of Covid.

“I took it badly, I was hospitalized for 11 days, and I don’t remember four or five of them.

“It was really a touch-and-go and a terribly debilitating illness.

“I couldn’t speak aloud and I didn’t know if I could sing again. I could hardly speak.

“When I got home, I was scared and couldn’t sing. It was one of the scariest battles I’ve ever had.

“I had to work on my vocal cords and get them back. I knew this was what I wanted to do in my life, so I could, so I did it.”

The smoky doctor told him he was “lucky” to survive and believed he had pulled out to the fact that he remained healthy and active.

“I was told I was lucky to take care of myself, especially at my age, but I’m not talking here now because of God’s grace and that fact,” he added. ..

And the singer of “Trucks of My Tears” admitted that he had a complete understanding of how serious the “serious” situation was only after he recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

He said: “None of this really scared me until I got home.

“I never thought of dying when I was there trying to get well while I was weak. I thought I would get well.

“Looking back, it was so terrible that I knew I could die. Then it scared me.

“It sounds strange that I know, but the severity of my condition didn’t hit me until it was over.”

Smoky didn’t want him to be in a similar position again, so he became more committed to staying healthy as a result of his trials.

He states: “Before I got the virus, I was exercising a couple of times a week. I’ve been doing yoga, stretching and positioning for 40 years.

“I took both shots, but I don’t want to get infected with the virus, so I’m exercising almost every day now.

“I lift the weights and exercise. I have surgery on both knees so I don’t run, but I walk. I don’t want to get old so I keep going.”

And the Miracles frontman is also working on his voice, and has been accumulating an ever-longer performance.

He states:

“The first gig I went to was a private event at a Texas hospital, but I only did it for 40 minutes, usually two or two and a half hours.

“I got over it. It helped me psychologically. Then I did something else in 60 minutes. It worked, I felt good, I’m not afraid anymore. I’m a full-fledged concert 3 times and 95% back. “
