Segura returned home on the first and third offs in Carlos Carrasco’s (1-3) sixth Career 2 Homer game against the Washington Nationals on September 26, 2016 at the Arizona Diamondbacks. I returned home for the first time.
The 31-year-old is a .361 batter in Citi Field with four home runs and 13 RBIs in 22 games, with .325 hits in 11 games against Mets this season.
“When we play these guys, I think the ball is really good,” Segura said.
Nora (8-8), who had been 0-2 in 5.10 ERA since her last victory on July 25, allowed 4 hits in 5 2/3 innings and walked 1 with 9 strikeouts.
“For me, it went up and down, but I throw it away,” Nora said. “We are in the race right now. Whatever way I can help and go out, doing my best to work is what I am trying to do.”
Nora carried the shutout sixth when Brandon Nimmo tripled with one out and scored with Francisco Lindau’s grounder. After walking Pete Alonso, he was pulled and Jose Alvarado hit Michael Conforto with three balls.
“I thought he had a great match,” Girardi said of Nora. “I thought he was running out of gas.”
Brad Miller and Freddy Galvis greeted Brad Hand in their seventh consecutive doubles. Harper hit Trevor May’s two-run, two-out double and extended his lead to 5-1.
Dominic Smith had a pinch hitter RBI single in the Mets’ 7th inning. Nemo leads 8th place and is home red.
Ian Kennedy threw a perfect ninth to win the 24th save.
Carasco allowed five hits with five strikeouts in six innings and two runs with two walks. He probably threw number 7, but he smeared the pitch from his thumb while batting on number 5.
“I couldn’t grab the ball,” said Carasco. “That’s why they took me out.”

Despite giving up on Segura’s home run, Carasco’s ERA actually dropped from 15.00 to 14.40 this season. His first inning ERA in his career was 4.44, up from 3.92 before 2021.

Nemo’s triple was second in Mets’ three games, fifth in the month, and eighth since August 16th, when Alonso finished 68 consecutive major league record wins without a triple. Mets has 14 triples this season, linking the 1999 club to the lowest three-bagger franchise record of the full season.
Phillies: Girardi said LF Andrew McCutchen blew the wind from him while he was doing a diving catch to steal Jeff McNeil on his seventh hit. McCutchen remained in the game after Girardi and the trainer visited, and took a walk in 8th place after being pulled out by a pinch runner Mickey Moniak.
Mets: RHP Noah Syndergaard (Tommy John Surgery) will practice batting on Sunday. This is the second time he has faced a living batter since his rehab was interrupted by a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. … RHP Jacob DeGrom (elbow) threw the mid-slope on Saturday, but still has no plans to confront the batter.
Phillies: RHP Kyle Gibson (10-7, 3.49 ERA) is 0-2, 9.00 ERA with three starts this month.
Mets: LHP Rich Hill (6-7, 3.88 ERA) is aiming for the first victory since winning from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 23. Hill is 0-3 with 3.88 ERA in 10 Mets games (9 starts).
