Child driver crashes car after going wrong in Gettysburg chase

GETTYSBURG, Pennsylvania (WHTM) — The Pennsylvania State Police in Gettysburg said they found a 10-year-old boy driving the car in reverse and his brother’s brother getting into the car and crashing into it.

At 11:55 p.m. on Dec. 21, police spotted a Ford Explorer without headlights heading west down York Street in the Gettysburg Borough, state police said.

The vehicle then bypassed the traffic circle and the troopers attempted to stop the vehicle.

The explorer took a wrong turn down Baltimore Street and passed several red lights. State police say the vehicle “crossed the roadway and continued to fluctuate in speed” during his three-mile pursuit.

The vehicle eventually collided with a Met-Ed pole, where it came to a halt.

State police said the driver was 10 years old, with a 6-year-old child inside.

Both were unharmed and returned to their parents.
