Upper Melion — Headquartered at 901 East 8th Avenue in King of Prasha, RSVP supports an innovative virtual learning volunteer-based educational program for underprivileged and endangered students and adolescents. Announced that it received a $ 3,000 grant from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation.
Michele Moll, Executive Director of RSVP, reports: Thank you for your support in expanding the enhanced Critical Impact Program. “
Denintor, Executive Director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and Vice President of Corporate Social Responsibility at Dollar General, said: .. “We hope that these funds will help increase the access and resources of students, educators and communities dedicated to reading and learning as the educational environment continues to change.”
RSVP’s Virtual Reading Program matches volunteer reading coaches with K-6 students to practice their reading and comprehension skills. Students gain confidence by practicing with volunteers and become more confident readers. The United Way of Greater Philadelphia’s partnership with Bello’s summer reading program has helped reduce the number of summer slides students often use. Family literacy programs help underprivileged head-start preschoolers and their families gain the reading tools and incentives they need to succeed. Volunteers create reading joy for students by reading online and help them prepare to enter kindergarten as ready learners. A newsletter with reading tips will be sent home to encourage families to read books to their children at home. RSVP’s Youth Mentoring Program matches compassionate mentors and at-risk students who meet online to discuss topics such as conflict resolution, goal setting, and diversity issues.
RSVP not only supports impact programs that focus on the key needs of the community, such as helping veterans, the elderly, underprivileged preschoolers, and youth at risk, but also other nonprofits. We are always looking for new volunteers to help us. The general public can learn about the current needs of the local community by visiting www.rsvpmc.org or by calling (610) 834-1040, extension number. one two Three.
