Read the Royals Top Mains and win the series in Game 6 of the ECHL North Division Semifinals

Forward Jacob Pritchard has assured that the Reading season will not end in the ECHL North Division semi-finals.

Pritchard scored a winning goal in the game and series in the third period at the Santander Arena on Monday night, winning the Royals 2-1 in Game 6 and 4-2 to the Mariners. I won the series. ..

“It’s a great job for Pritchard,” said reading coach Kirk McDonald. “He steps up and scores in big moments.”

Pritchard scored a decisive goal during the Royals’ power play in the middle of the third round. He patiently collected the pucks at that point before skating and shooting towards the net.

“I spent a lot of time,” said Pritchard. “(I) decided to shoot it and (I) defeated his weaknesses.”

The goal was just enough to lead Reading to victory in a game featuring many aggressive and physical plays. The main goalkeeper’s column booth was sturdy, allowing only two goals in 31 saves.

“It can be the hardest to win the first round, especially because of the pressure of being the first seed,” McDonald’s said. “It should be easy, it’s never easy.”

The Mariners started scoring midway through the first period with a goal from the forward nickmaster. The goal was the only goal that would otherwise have been a rough period, as the two teams combined five penalties.

The Royals tied it in the middle of the second period when Forward Treberguch scored from just outside the crease. Forward Kenny Howzinger and Frank Dikiara won the assist.

After controlling the first two periods, especially in the last five minutes, Reading faced a surge in the third period from Maine. The Mariners generated 15 shots in the third period and effectively owned the puck in the attack zone, but remained scoreless.

“I thought we managed it well,” McDonald said. “We have found a way to get over it.”

The Royals relied on a great play from veteran goalkeeper Pat Nagle who returned from a loan to Lee High Valley before Game 6. Neagle faced 31 shots and made 30 saves.

“I was excited to go back (to Reading),” Neagle said. “We had a great match tonight.”

The Royals will continue their playoff run in the ECHL North Division Final, where they will face the winner of the ECHL North Division Semifinal between New Found Land and Trois Rivieres. These teams will meet in Round 7 on Tuesday. Reading will host the first leg of the second round series, with dates and times to be announced.

“I definitely just want to win the championship at this time of the year,” said Pritchard. “So it’s pretty cool to see everyone get together.”
