New York (AP) — Apple has launched its second annual All Virtual Developers Conference with a keynote outlining new software updates for iPhone and other devices. The presentation emphasized the privacy options for paid iCloud accounts and the “Find My” service to help you find the wrong AirPods, but didn’t include major product announcements.

Apple’s latest refurbishment in the $ 2 trillion empire took place at a crucial time for the company in Cupertino, California. Apple faces legal and regulatory threats to managing the App Store. This is the so-called “walled garden” that brings considerable profits to the company.

Apple CEO Tim Cook, Apple Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federighi, and other executives have outlined software updates for many Apple devices, including MacBooks, iMacs, iPhones, iPads, and Watches.

Apple’s new MacOS software, called Monterey, supports what Apple calls “universal control.” This allows users to control their iMac desktop computer, MacBook laptop, and iPad at the same time with a single mouse and keyboard.

Forrester analyst Julie Ask says Apple’s improvements, such as “Universal Control,” leverage Apple’s strengths in integrating products and services.

“Today’s news wasn’t a’new novel’, like how the Holy Cow made it happen,” she said. “But each of us in a day I have 100 or 200 calls and make 100 small moments a day better, seamless and easier. “

As another example, she pointed out Apple’s plans to support digital IDs, including driver’s licenses and state IDs from “participating US states.” Apple has not specified which states are included.

“They have an army of people trying to sign these contracts,” she said. “Apple has received a lot of criticism for being very disciplined, but they can be accomplished by other major brands with difficulty.”

You can use the Live Text feature in iOS 15 to highlight the text in your photos so you can copy and paste or search online. It also integrates AirPods into the Find My service to help people find lost or misplaced Apple products.

Apple has added more to its paid iCloud plans, including how to hide email addresses, encrypt videos, and Safari’s “private relay” feature that encrypts data from VPN-like web browsers. We have introduced a privacy function.

There is no change in the price of the paid plan. Users pay for iCloud storage that exceeds the 5GB of free storage available to them for free. In the United States, these plans start at $ 1 per month with 50GB of storage.

Apple didn’t announce when iOS 15 will be available, but the company traditionally releases a free update to all compatible iPhones in September.
