Musikfest kicks off with a preview night at SteelStacks on Thursday.

According to the National Weather Service’s latest forecast, the blistering heat will continue on Thursday with a high of 95 degrees Celsius. And when preview night featuring Boyz II Men kicks off on the Wind Creek Stage stage, it’s going to be a muggy night with a low of just 72 degrees.

A constant risk faced by Musikfest and other outdoor events is the weather. This is especially true at the end of summer when storms are frequent. So far, the forecast calls for storms and showers Friday through Monday. We need rain, but I hope Mother Nature waits a little longer.

In the event of a weather emergency, your best bet is to download the free Musikfest app to stay up to date and monitor social media closely.

Musikfest has faced tricky weather for decades. Especially when fighting flooding from Monocacy Creek after a storm. Volksplatz, one of the most affected ‘plats’ or venues, has been removed and a new platz has been added at Payrow Plaza.

The little good news is that at least the first part of the festival looks more seasonal and warmer, with temperatures reaching highs in the 80s most days of the weekend.

Here are the music fest forecasts so far from the National Weather Service:
