The investigation began earlier this month after telling police that the woman had been sexually assaulted in the Scott Township Volunteer Fire Department building. According to police, the victim told investigators that the assault had occurred in May.

Police said the victim and suspect met in the department and assaulted her when the suspect entered. Law enforcement does not say where it happened, but they said they knew each other. According to police, there were no witnesses.

KDKA-TV tried to talk to the fire department, but was told “no comment”. KDKA-TV also left a message to the chief of the fire department, but did not receive a reply.

State police said it was not uncommon for victims of sexual assault not to report crimes immediately.
