COATESVILLE — A 67-year-old homeless man was arrested and charged with arson after a fire broke out in a restaurant in Coatesville early Wednesday morning.
According to police, Richard Hynes was arrested on arson and related charges.
At 2:38 am on March 2, Coatesville City Police were dispatched to Midwave Bar and Grill on the Lincoln Highway in downtown Coatesville due to a building fire.
The Coatesville City Fire Department was initially dispatched for a fire alarm, but the incident was immediately upgraded to a building fire as flames were seen from the front of the building through road surveillance cameras in the area. I did.
Firefighters from Coatesville arrived, showing fire through the front window of the restaurant, forcing them into the building and quickly extinguishing it. As more units arrived, firefighters entered the apartment above the restaurant and checked for extensions and residents.
Units from Coatesville, Thorndale, Modena, Virginia Fire Department, Keystone Valley, and Wagontown have responded with the Coatesville and Westwood EMS.
No injuries have been reported and the fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshal and the Coatesville City Fire Department.
The state police fire marshal investigated the cause of the fire. Police checked surveillance cameras in the area and observed that Robert Hines broke the front window of the facility and ignited several items that caused an internal fire.
Hines was accused and transferred to Chester County Jail after failing to pay a $ 75,000 cash bail.
