In the fall of 2021 Pittsburgh City Paper A & E Editor Amanda Waltz has entered Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland-Theme tea party. This is just one of many events that have been extensively promoted on social media by the Hidden Media Network, promising “the best virtual and live experiences in more than 30 cities around the world.” She left more questions than answers.

The next day, the more Waltz reported on an international event planning company, the more she discovered allegations of “bait-and-switch” tactics, insecure COVID protocols, and more.

On May 24, the Western Pennsylvania Press Club received the 1st Golden Quill Award for “Prominent Journalism, Arts / Entertainment-Division 3” for a report on Waltz’s company. Hidden media networks promise a fun and immersive experience, but some say that everything isn’t what it looks like...
