WGAL News 8 debuts state-of-the-art news set

WGAL 8, the Susquehanna Valley’s most watched local news station and one of the highest-rated NBC affiliates in the country, launched a completely redesigned news set during Tuesday’s broadcast of WGAL News 8 at Noon.”WGAL 8 is ready to reshape news coverage in the Susquehanna Valley,” said Cindy DeLuca, President and General Manager of WGAL 8. “This new set is the result of a multi-year planning process and substantial investment by Hearst Television. This investment will allow WGAL News 8 to provide better local news and weather coverage for every person in the Susquehanna Valley.”The new design features state-of-the-art broadcast technology, brand-new lighting design, and a larger studio space to allow for a diverse set of on-air storytelling options. Aesthetically, the set features a mixture of textures that are both modern and traditional, reflecting the growing communities that make up the Susquehanna Valley. Above the largest monitor, a photo of a bridge can be seen, reflecting WGAL 8’s role in connecting the region through local news and information.According to Kristin Kay, WGAL 8 News Director, “This is truly a multi-functional set that will take our storytelling capabilities to the next level. The addition of larger displays allows us to showcase more local content and provide additional context for our viewers.”The new set can be seen on all WGAL News 8 broadcasts starting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023.
