PERKY LEAGUE: Plymouth completes Concho Hocken sweep and advances to semifinals | Sports

Plymouth — It was the diamond that crushed it.

Plymouth scored 13 hits, scored in the bunch, defeated Concho Hocken 11-3 and completed the 3-0 sweep of the quarterfinal playoff series at Villa Nova Ballpark on Wednesday night. ..

Second baseman Anthony Swenda said, “We have some extra holidays because we wanted to get it done.” “We knew we could play well in this series. We have all seasons.”

Second-seeded Plymouth will be waiting for who to play in the semi-finals next week.

Diamond led 4-0 after the first at bat and also won the final seven runs of the contest.

“We do that from time to time,” Swenda said of the big innings.

Swenda, a graduate of Upper Melion, currently playing at Potomac State College in West Virginia, played 2-3 with doubles, walks, two runs and three RBIs.

“I felt pretty good. I’m working on something for school and preparing to go back,” he said. “We are trying to win the title. We want to get back to school with good grades.”

Plymouth took the lead and hit five hits in a single shot with right-handed Thomas McLaughlin.

Mike Hutchinson belted a double in the center left and scored with a ground ball single in the middle of Swenda.

Hutchinson stole second, then third, and reached home with a slow error to 2-0.

Ben Colender’s right-to-right RBI joined the lead, and single Nate Campbell scored a wild pitch to score 4-0.

The 7th seeded Conshou Hocken answered the 2nd.

Cole Kriger made a double RBI with Ryan River on the left side and scored with a chase-fake hit.

Jake Stoller took a full-base walk and tightened things 4-3 against his river (6K).

But it was all diamonds.

Plymouth widened the gap in the second and Swenda’s RBI was 5-3.

Diamond filled the lead further.

Hutchinson, Owen Petrich and Kevin Riley were all 8-3 on their fourth run.

In the fifth inning, RJ Huth hit a triple to the right, Andrew Booth singled to the left, Hutchinson doubled into the gap in the center left, and the margin swelled to 10-3.

Swenda’s ground ball scored Hutchinson and pushed it up to 11-3.

It was an unpleasant showcase for Plymouth.

Eight different players hit the diamond, including Hutchinson (2 to 3, HBP, 3R, 2RBI) who had a doubles pair. Kevin Riley (2 to 4, R, RBI), Hughes (2 to 4, 2R) and Andrew Booth (2 to 3, 2R, RBI) also contributed multiple times on the plate.
