Bear found dead after being attacked by bear in Wright Township

Lucerne County Wright Township (WBRE/WYOU) — The Pennsylvania Game Commission is leading an investigation after a dead bear was found in Wright Township Wednesday morning.

Authorities confirmed to Eyewitness News that the bear was spotted about two to three miles from the scene. A bear attacked two young children on Monday.

Investigators said the bear was “clearly a car accident.”

Travis Lau, director of communications for the Pennsylvania Gaming Commission, said DNA swabs were taken from the dead bear to determine if it was the bear involved in the attack two days earlier.

Lau said he wasn’t sure if this was correct as the results had not come back from the lab as of Thursday night. A bear they set a trap for. Witness News will update you as soon as DNA results are returned.
