Pen College Summer Graduation Ceremony Scheduled for August 7th Directly | Education

Williamsport, PA-The majestic return of a college graduate to the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology in downtown Williamsport.

The summer 2021 graduation ceremony was held on Saturday, August 7th for more than 200 students who wished to graduate. The face-to-face ceremony begins at 11:00 am at the Community Arts Center.

This event is open to registered students and guests with tickets. Unvaccinated people should wear a face mask. The event will be livestreamed for those who cannot attend.

The student speaker at the ceremony is Larsinina Degusmann Bitner of Millhall, who will be awarded a Bachelor of Science degree as a doctor’s assistant. Deanlist student Bitner was originally from the Philippines with a bachelor’s degree in biology and a doctorate in medicine and completed a medical internship.

After moving to Pennsylvania in 2010, she worked as a phlebotomist at Jersey Shore Hospital and later as a microbiology analyst at West Pharmaceutical Services. She also joined the Army National Guard as a car transport expert. She was accepted into Pen College’s Former Doctor Assistant Program in 2019.

During her clinical rotation, she enrolled at St. Francis College to earn a master’s degree in medicine and graduated in May. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Assistants Association, the Pennsylvania Veterans Club, and the Pennsylvania Medical Assistants Club. She is a recipient of the Richard and Mildred Taylor Memorial Scholarship.

At the ceremony, La Quinn N. Thompson of York, who received a bachelor’s degree in Applied Human Services in 2016, will be awarded the Alumni Achievement Award.

Thompson has recently become a selective instructor for 5th and 6th grade STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) at Lincoln Charter School in York. Previously, he was Director of Community Outreach at St. Mattheran Lutheran Church in York.

He is also the founder of the BEAST Initiative, an esports / game youth program whose mission is to bring the community together through games.

The degree is awarded to graduates by President Davy Jane Gilmore with the support of Senator Jean Yo, chair of the University of Pennsylvania Board of Directors.
