Operation Holiday Starts Financing in 2021

Operation Holiday, an annual children’s donation campaign managed by The Mercury and related publications, will launch a fundraiser in the Amazing Raise fundraiser in October this year.

Programs that provide food and gifts to children whose families can’t afford extras for their vacation have grown from the beginning in Pottstown 30 years ago to include areas in Burks, Chester and Montgomery County. bottom. The 2021 campaign begins this month and asks agencies to refer clients who have children and need help to provide meals and gifts for their December vacation. The campaign is expanding to more in Berks County by adding Helping Harvest as a partner agency.

There is no overhead on Operation Holidays and all donations are used locally. The program is managed by employees of participating newspapers and funds are maintained in non-profit Foundation accounts.
