Man shoots woman in head in Bethlehem car Saturday, police indict – The Morning Call

A 21-year-old man from Bethlehem has been charged with attempted murder. he shot a woman in the head on Saturday afternoon In the city, officials said on Sunday.

Marquis Watkins allegedly shot 21-year-old Jani Bostick of East Stroudsburg while in the driver’s seat of her car on Buttstown Road just before 3pm. Bostic was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital in Muilenburg where he was in critical condition on Sunday, according to Northampton County District Attorney Terry Houck.

According to Bethlehem Police:

Officers responded at 2:54 pm with a report of the shooting on Block 1200 of Buttstown Road. They were found in a car with Bostic having a gunshot wound.

Witnesses said they saw a man running from Bostic’s car after getting out of the passenger seat after hearing two gunshots. They saw him with a semi-automatic pistol in his pocket.

According to multiple witnesses, the man ran into a house on Block 1200 of Batstown Road. Police took everyone in the house into custody and discovered a semi-automatic pistol hidden in the toilet tank.

Watkins, identified by a witness, tested positive for gunshot residue.

In addition to attempted murder, he is charged with aggravated assault, possession of criminal paraphernalia, and possession of an unlicensed firearm. He was arraigned before District Judge Vivian Zuma and sent to Northampton County Jail on $1 million bail.
