Columbus, Ohio (AP) — Ohio printed 35,000 new license plates before noticing the banner on the plate. The wrong end of the Wright Flyer, the first historic plane of the Wright brothers.
State officials acknowledged the error shortly after the new plate was announced on Thursday and released a photo of the corrected plate. But a state spokesperson said Friday that 35,000 plates had already been printed, WBNS-TV. report..
“We will recycle 35,000 printed plates. It’s too early to know if there will be any additional costs,” said Lindsey Borer, assistant director of communications at the Ohio Department of Public Security.
The new license plate shows both rural and urban areas of Ohio with a banner on the horizon that says “The Birthplace of Aviation.” However, the banner that should have been attached to the back of the plane was attached to the front.
The modified plate will be released on December 29th.
