Officials investigating the cause of a fire in an apartment complex in East Karn – Daily Local

East Karn — Just before 1:30 pm on Monday, a firefighter was dispatched to Woodmont North Apartments on the 400 Winding Way to report a fire in the apartment. Several tenants in the apartment called 911, informing them of the dark black smoke and flames from the apartment on the third floor, and that it extended to the roof.

Smoke was visible from the bypass of Route 30 as emergency personnel responded to the scene. At one point, firefighters encountered fire and smoke on the third floor of the apartment, and there were several on the balcony behind the building. Firefighters used multiple handlines to extinguish the flames. Some firefighters also had vents in the roof to dissipate smoke and heat to help the firefighters in the apartment.

Authorities extinguished the fire at 2:31 pm and one subject was evaluated by EMS on site but was not transported. This was the same building where the fire broke out in February of this year.

The fire is currently under investigation
