Backcounty — The Victims Assistance Network (NOVA) Thrift Shop (Route 313 in Hilltown) at 2116 Broad Street in Perkasie is celebrating its 20th anniversary and invites the community to attend the celebration.
“In honor of this special milestone, NOVA is asking members of the community to donate 20 items,” said the release. “From December 1, 2021, bags with information tags will be sold in stores. If you have donated 20 items, please fill in the information tag. The information tag is a gift card prize from a local company. Will be entered into the monthly lottery. The monthly lottery will end on September 30, 2022. In addition, there will be regular celebration sales throughout the year until September 2022. “
It opened in 2001 and moved to its current location in 2016.
“In addition to being a resource for fashion and household items that are used gently, revenue from the shop supports NOVA’s work as a comprehensive victim service agency for backcounties. It is federal. It is one of the largest sources of revenue for government agencies, surpassed solely by government and state funding, “said the release. “Last year, the NOVA Thrift Shop raised $ 1.1 million and raised more than $ 4.6 million over its 20-year lifespan.”
“The thrift shop is not a treasure trove of bargains,” said Angela McGettigan, Director of Community Relations & Development at NOVA. “It helps our mission to eliminate backcounty violence and support and empower victims of serious crimes. Whether making donations or buying items, others Helps to help. “
The job of NOVA Thrift Shop would not have been possible without the help of volunteers. The youngest volunteers are in their teens and the oldest volunteers are in their 90s. Additional volunteers and donations are always needed. For more information on NOVA Thrift Shop, please visit https://novabucks.org/thriftshop/. The Network of Victim Assistance (NOVA) assists, advises and assists victims of backcountry sexual assault and other serious crimes, and prevents social violence through advocacy, training, community education and prevention programs. I’m trying to get rid of it. Founded in 1974, NOVA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) community-based organization operating in three offices: Fairless Hills, Jamison and Perkasie. Services are made possible through federal, state and local government grants and contracts, financial support through corporate, foundation and personal donations.
