New Laws Take Effect Against Illegal ATVs, Dirt Bikes | States

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania – Illegal ATV and dirt bike riders in Pennsylvania will have to pay a bigger price when police stop them.

A new law on the matter, signed into law by Gov. Tom Wolfe this summer, went into effect Friday.

Under this law, police can now seize and, in some cases, destroy illegally operated ATVs and dirt bikes.

The bill was sponsored by State Senator Pat Brown.

In July, around the time the bill was signed, Mr Brown said, “Anyone convicted of driving a bicycle illegally on the street will lose their bicycle.” Hopefully it sends a very strong signal that we are not going to tolerate this.”
