Lorenzo di Bonaventura considers the crossover between “GI Joe” and “Transformers” to be “unavoidable.”
The 64-year-old film producer, a key figure in both franchises, claims that Paramount has always opposed this idea, but he thinks it will happen in the end.
Lorenzo tells Uproxx:
“All the administrations in Paramount are against it because they take two franchises and bring them together, but I think that’s inevitable.”
Producers whose previous movie credits included “Red,” “Meg,” and “Pet Sematary” will see if it happens with a universal potential crossover between “Jurassic Park” and “Fast and Furious.” Suggests that you can decide.
“If they really intend to do that and it works, yes, or the audience will think it’s a bit too ironic, I don’t know,” Lorenzo said.
Film producers also discussed Henry Golding’s move in the other direction of the “GI Joe” franchise in the spin-off “Snake Eyes,” which plays the prestigious fighter.
He states: “First of all, as you know, as a true fan, Snake Eyes is the most popular character, and the dynamics between him and Storm Shadow are too rich. Because he grew up and knew it, It’s a very interesting experience to actually see Snake Eyes and hear him.
“So I felt it was really a lot of new news for the fan base.”
Lorenzo also opened up the concerns of “GI Joe” fans when talking about characters, as they were silent in previous projects.
He states: “The great thing about having fans is that they are very passionate, and what can be burdensome is that they sometimes have a very scripted interpretation of things.
“First of all, I thought it was really hard when he appeared in the GI Joe movie. He’s a really difficult character because he doesn’t say anything. Do you know what I mean? You can’t see him. I thought it was an interesting part. What’s happening under that helmet? And who is that guy? “
