Allentown, PA-After more than 70 years of business, the carnival toy supplier Allentown toy manufacturer will be closed.

“I went back and forth a bit about that, but it got a lot harder,” said owner Nancy Hohmann.

Her father started the business in 1948.

The business has been on 10th Avenue for over 50 years.

She and her husband, Chris Satig, who also works there, were thinking of retiring. Rising tariffs and costs have made it difficult to run the business.

“I haven’t heard of it since the 90’s. It’s not that great to have your own business,” Hohmann said.

The COVID shutdown gave them time to really think about it. When it finally resumed, it was actually in good shape.

“Initially, I thought it would probably take a couple of years to clear all my inventories. By the end of October, the carnival was out of supply, which means whatever people wanted,” Satig said. rice field.

“We will meet it again at the time we say, or will we go out?”

But they decided not to backfill it. They are old, and it’s time for them to do things they can never do, like traveling.

So they don’t see this as a sad story.

“It’s totally different. We’re really excited,” Hohmann said.

The building is on the market.

“I want to use this building as a community center,” Hohmann said.

Business will end at the end of the month.

Hohmann says he intends to donate the toys he left behind to local charities and schools. We also sell furniture and other office content.
