Lehigh Valley Events: Top 5 Things to Do This Weekend

The Nineteenth Amendment, which guarantees women’s right to vote, was passed by Parliament in 1919 and ratified the following year. It was first introduced by Congress in 1878, and women lobbied for decades, including during the 1918 influenza pandemic, for it to be approved. To win the right to vote, women challenged the restricted law in court, went on a hunger strike, and worked to win the right to vote in the state.
