Frank Dikiara scored a tiebreaker goal in the second half of the second period, and Reading Royals defeated Adirondack Thunder 4-2 in a pre-season game at Santander Arena on Saturday.
This game was the first Royals to play at home in 587 days due to a coronavirus pandemic.
After winning 4-0 on Friday, Reading swept the preseason Home and Home series with Adirondack.
The Royals took the 2-0 lead with goals from Grant Cooper and Patrick Bazikov in the first period of Saturday.
Thunder cut 2-1 with Ryan Smith’s goal at the first 12:29, tying it to the second Nick Rivera’s power play goal.
Reading regained the lead when DiChiara scored one-time in power play at 17:47 seconds.
Jason Pritchard scored for the Royals third.
Pat Nagle finished with 22 saves of Reading. Pritchard had goals and assists, and Patrick McNally and Josh Winkaist each had two assists.
Reading will have a regular season in Norfolk on Friday and will meet the Admiral at the Santander Arena the next night at 7pm
