More than $21,000 in drugs found during Altoona arrest

ALTOONA, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) – More than $20,000 worth of fentanyl and heroin were seized during an arrest in Altoona on Thursday.

Officers from the Altoona Police Department arrested the two at 3:42 p.m. Thursday, May 11, reportedly after state parole officers conducted home visits. APD Facebook Post.

Police said they found drug paraphernalia in the living room when investigators entered the home. Altoona Police Department said Jacqueline Gomez, 38, and Michael Nichols, 40, were detained until officers arrived.

At 7:09 p.m., officers obtained a search warrant from the Blair County District Attorney’s Office. Members of the Blair County Anti-Drug Commission raided the house and found multiple drugs and cash.

According to the Altoona Police Department, the Blair County Narcotics Unit seized the following items:

  • 52 grams of fentanyl/suspected heroin: worth $21,000
  • 2 grams of crystalline methamphetamine: worth $200
  • $919 in cash
  • 2 digital scales
  • additional tools

Gomez and Nichols have been charged with conspiracy, possession with intent to surrender a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were taken to the Blair County Jail Central Reservation Office for arraignment.

The investigation was conducted by the Pennsylvania Department of Parole, the Altoona Police Department, the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, and the Blair County District Attorney’s Office.
