Kenny Chesney remains ‘devastated’ after a fan collapsed and died at one of his concerts.
The 54-year-old star admitted that it was “heartbreaking” to be told that a woman had died from her injuries after jumping off an escalator at Empower Field at Denver’s Mile High Stadium on July 30.
He told the Denver Post: [at the show] — and this is heartbreaking to hear. Life is precious. Sharing music unites us, and the love we share enriches us.
“There are no words for the woman who came to share that love. I mourn with them for the loss of her friends and family.”
Denver Police spokesman Nate McGee said the woman was sitting on the escalator handrail when she fell.
However, he does not believe there was any foul play.
He said: “From my understanding there was no such thing. It was just an accidental fall. I don’t think anyone pushed her or did anything like that.”
Empowerment Field at Mile High Stadium sent “deep condolences” to the family of the victim, whose name and age have not been released.
They tweeted, “Our deepest condolences to the loved ones of the woman involved in the tragic incident at the end of Saturday’s concert at Mile High’s Empower Field.
“Nothing is more important than the safety of our guests. The stadium management company is in contact with the Denver Police Department to investigate this unfortunate situation.”
