Pittsburgh (KDKA)-Juju Smith-Schuster may not have caught a pass in Pittsburgh this season, but that doesn’t mean he’s lost the soft spot in the city he once called his hometown.
The 25-year-old woman hosted a fundraiser at the Strip District Terminal along Smallman Street from 9am to 2pm Sunday.
All proceeds from the event were donated to local charities and institutions such as Paws Across Pittsburgh Animal Rescue and Magee-Women’s Research Institute.
The $ 20 admission fee provided fans with one product, photo, and autograph.
“It was very important. It was hard to come back,” Smith-Schuster said. “I spent five years here and returned to the city where I started my career. When you sign and go to a new team, you move so fast that you literally picked up everything and moved. It’s time to say goodbye to the fans who didn’t have. What we’re doing today is really cool. “
While playing for the Steelers from 2017 to 2021, natives from Long Beach, California caught 323 passes with 3,855 yards and 26 touchdowns.
Smith-Schuster signed a one-year $ 3,250,000 contract with Kansas City Chiefs early in the off-season, but did not close the door when he returned to Pittsburgh in the future.
“I was able to come back here and see myself. Even today, this shows that there are fans here to support me.”
