Malcolm Myers’ family still searching for answers to death a year later

Youngstown, Ohio (WKBN) — A year after her son’s body was found, Stephanie Myers is still searching for answers.

On Sunday, Malcolm Myers’ family released a balloon in his honor at the site where his body was found months after his disappearance.

“I can’t go to the trash without thinking about my son. For three and a half months we were looking for him.” Stephanie Myers Said.

“My son was loved. He had the biggest heart ever. He could light up a room with his Kool-Aid smile,” said Stephanie Myers. “It’s very hard for me and my family. It’s just traumatic.”

Stephanie said her son is a loving family man and misses being hugged by him. According to her, he’s the type of person who never misses his birthdays, his cousin’s matches, and would raise his girlfriend’s little daughter like his own.

“She wasn’t his biological daughter, but he’s been raising her since she was about 18 months and 2 years old,” Stephanie Myers said. “And she talks about him all the time.”

Stephanie Myers said it’s been a tough year without answers, but the loss of her sister made it even harder. But she said: Community support Phone calls, letters, people at the grocery store sending their condolences, that’s what gets her through.

“I don’t want him to be forgotten, and I don’t want his memory to go to waste,” Stephanie Myers said.

Investigators in the case said Malcolm Myers was murdered the day he went missing and died of gunshot wounds. His mother still couldn’t believe that no one had noticed his body for months, she said, and was embarrassed that someone would do this to her son.

“I know Malcolm’s not coming back, I know that, but just to get justice, just to give him justice, because he didn’t have to do this,” she said.
