A Texas woman trying to sell JJ Watt’s sneakers to raise money for her grandfather’s funeral expenses got unexpected help from the Arizona Cardinals defensive end.
Jennifer Simpson lost her grandfather the day after Father’s Day, and her family struggled for weeks to come up with money to rest him. To raise her money, Simpson tweeted that she was selling a female version of Reebok JJ Watt’s shoes for $ 30.
“They’re great shoes and they’re just selling because they’re collecting money for Grandpa’s funeral,” she wrote Wednesday. She added that she also sold Watt’s Houston Texans jersey.
Twenty minutes later, the former Texans star responded with some good news.
according to KHOU, Watt immediately sent money via PayPal. The family told the station that Watt “reduced our burden,” and they also thanked the hundreds of people who helped them.
“These people don’t know us or our story,” Simpson said. “They don’t know what we experienced last month. It reminds me that there is something good in the world.”
