Jeff Chilot, who led Hamburg to the first District 3 football playoffs championship, resigned from the Hawks coach a season later, athletic director Aaron Menapas said Monday night.
55-year-old Chillot led Hamburg to a 7-4 record. This includes a 31-27 victory over Balmdian Springs in the first round of the District 3 Class 3A playoffs. The Hawks finished the season with a 35-7 defeat to Boiling Springs in the district semifinals.
Chirot, a longtime math teacher at School Kill Valley, has taught the Panthers for 12 seasons, setting a record of 53-72 between 2009 and 20. This is the most leading victory in school history.
School Kill Valley has played five playoffs in District 3 under Chirot, who has been coaching at high school and college levels for over 30 years.
