The Luzerne County Coroners Office has announced the name of a boy who was killed in a shooting early Sunday morning in Hazleton.
Hazleton’s Stanley Jimson, 17, was killed by a gunshot wound on his torso, according to a release issued Tuesday by the coroner’s office.
Police in Hazleton, along with police from several surrounding municipalities, as well as Pennsylvania police, were called in to report a shooting incident in the areas of Beech and South Wyoming Streets around 1 am on Sunday.
Two ammunition victims were found on the scene, transported for medical use, and the other three arrived in a local hospital in separate vehicles, according to a statement released shortly after the incident by Hazleton city police. ..
Coroners reported that Jimson had died at Lee High Valley Hospital-Hazleton at 1:37 am. At this time, nothing is said about the situation of the other four shooting victims.
An autopsy performed by Dr. Charlie Seebert on Monday determined that Jimson’s cause of death was a gunshot wound on his torso. Jimson’s death was sentenced to murder.
The case is currently under investigation by Hazleton City Police. The State Police’s TroopN Forensic Services Unit assisted in the processing of crime scenes.
