Center County man held in state prison after shooting

CENTER COUNTY, Pennsylvania (WTAJ) — A Belfonte man pleaded guilty to state prison after a shooting in June, according to the Center County District Attorney’s Office.

Kyle Hockenberry will serve three to eight years in state prison after pleading guilty to aggravated assault, reckless endangerment of others, and terrorist threats.

Hockenberry was arrested in June 2022 on suspicion of shooting a co-worker in the thigh with a shotgun after getting into an altercation while drinking after work.

Witnesses reportedly told police that Hockenberry packed up and tried to leave, but his truck caught fire in the driveway. Witnesses initially told police that his colleague tried to break the window with a rock before Hockenberry returned home and got a shotgun.

Ultimately, the colleague was shot in the thigh before Hockenberry escaped in an ATV, but was found by police.
