Flyers retreat after losing to Seattle

PHILADELPHIA – A day after playing error-free hockey against the Nashville Predators, the Flyers didn’t perform as well in Sunday’s game against the Seattle Kraken.

The miscue proved costly on the first three of the Seattle Kraken’s four goals, which paved the way for the Flyers’ 4-3 loss at the Wells Fargo Center.

Seattle’s win broke a three-game losing streak. The Flyers fell to 22-23-10 on the season.

The epitome of loose play for Philadelphia was conceding a goal with just 1:01 left in the second period to break the tie 2-2.

Jaden Schwartz, who posted two goals in the game, remained open just above the hash mark and drilled a shot past goalkeeper Felix Sundstrom, whose season record fell to 1-8-1. bottom.

After three straight games in which the Flyers held their opponents to two goals or less, the effort required much looser play.

The Flyers struck first in the game, with goalkeeper Philippe Gulbauer scoring from Owen Tippett with a shot from the left circle just 2:11 into the match.

“They took advantage of some of our mistakes,” says van Riemsdyk. “There’s no good reason, but that’s kind of how the game went. They’re a quick team that forces mistakes. Certain situational things we could have done better.”

Patrick Brown scored a short-handed goal with 3:20 to play to keep the Flyers within one.

But Seattle did a good job keeping the Flyers at bay in the final minutes, so the four-game homestand (1-2-1) ended in disappointing fashion.
